The newly developed digital temperature controller DPC III is optimally matched to trace heating applications. It monitors measuring circuits on breaks, interruptions and short circuits of the sensor as well as on under-range and over-range in order to guarantee the process safety. The DPC III is universally applicable as ON/OFF (two-position controller) or as PID controller.
The easy set-up function makes it easier to put the heating circuit into operation within a very short time. The menu navigation makes the setting of the parameters very clear and safe. A special feature is the effective protection of the parameters by means of a multi-level password management which administrates the authorizations. The displayed parameters are freely selectable. Besides, it is possible to set diverse alarm functions, e.g. high alarm and low alarm can be set as absolute or relative alarms. For the system start-up, the function "manual control" or "soft start" can be used.
Function
Temperature changes at the Pt 100 sensor are evaluated in the DPC III and are displayed as temperature values on the LED display. If a variation from the preset nominal value is detected, the device regulates the heating circuit of the trace heating in accordance with the pre-selected regulation characteristics (ON/OFF or PID). For the PID regulation, an auto-tuning function is available which analyzes the regulating section (heating circuit) and ascertains the PID regulating parameters. Further switch-points as over-temperature or under-temperature alarm messages are available at delivery. For service purposes at the heating circuit, the regulating output is turned off and temperature alarms can be optionally disabled. Additional monitoring functions of the regulating circuit and of the connected measuring value sensor increase the process safety. Via the programming interface, the device parameters can be read out with a programming key and transmitted to other controllers. Optionally available is a device version with RS485 interface and MODBUS protocol.
Design
Like its predecessor version DPC, the DPC III is integrated in a lock-in casing for TS 35 hat-profile rail. At the measuring input, a Pt 100 resistance thermometer and thermal elements can be connected. The controller is equipped with a load relay 16A for the two-position control, an alarm relay 8A, a logical voltage output for the PID control and two digital inputs. The voltage supply of the controller takes place via an integrated power supply unit with wide voltage range. The controller DPC III is completely downward compatible to the previous DPC controller.
Advantages:
- optimized for trace heating applications
- "easy setup" provides for short set-up time
- applicable as ON/OFF (two-position controller) or as PID controller
- wide voltage input 100-240V AC
- load relay 16A for two-position controlling; logical output for SSR for PID controlling
