BARTEC has expanded its portfolio of temperature measuring technology by the RedGuard temperature monitoring system: The patented system is particularly suitable for leakage monitoring in LNG terminals as well as for the hot-spot monitoring of heated piping systems. Further application areas include ember pocket detection in conveyor belt systems, temperature monitoring of cable ducts, electrical switchgear, floating-roof tanks in petrochemical applications, landfill sites and composting plants as well as early fire detection in tunnels, adits, production and storage halls.
The RedGuard temperature monitoring system consists of a sensor cable with a length of up to 2.0 km, which accommodates integrated temperature sensors. The cable houses the entire electronics required for sensor addressing, temperature measuring and data transmission to the evaluation unit. Redundant current loops facilitate the signal quality’s assessment by the computer unit.
The evaluation of the measured values supplied by the sensor cable is carried out in the SSP evaluation unit attached to the cable’s end. Depending on the RedGuard software’s user configuration, the evaluation unit can output an alarm on an LED and a relay and/or via a data interface. The evaluation unit controls the sensor cable’s scanning, provides status information as well as measured values and monitors the system’s operativeness. Additionally, all events are recorded locally in an events ring buffer.
